I've never actually read any accounts of Attila -- but I strongly
suspect (based on what I know about various other "barbarians")
that he is being slandered by most if not all of the metaphorical uses
of his name. I suspect one or another civilized Roman Emperor (not
including Nero, Caligula, etc.) would be a better choice.
