I have not seen anything that refutes Pritchett, Lant. 1997. "Divergence, Big Time." Journal of Economic Perspectives, 11: 3 (Summer): pp. 3-17.
Also, I don't know if we should cheer if China and India "catch up" if the bottom 2 quintiles get left behind. I am at fault for mentioning inequality among nations, although I did also mention "within nations" as well.
The bottom two quintiles within each country? I don't *think* it's happening in India, but it definitely is happening in China...
And who do you think commissioned Lant's piece for the _JEP_? (Even if he does get regularly bashed her for memos he ghostwrote...)
