Re: Mugabe defends land takeovers at Harlem meeting

Does the justice of Mugabe's land struggle, and national struggle
against IMF interference, outweigh the injustices of individual
bourgeois democratic rights in that country?

Chris Burford

No. Remember, first of all, that the dispossessed are not only white farmowners, but Black employees who have worked on those farms. These are relatively high-paying jobs for rural Zimbabwe that they are losing to political clients of the Mugabe regime.

Remember, second of all, that these farms have over the past decade
been a powerful source of exports and thus of hard-currency earnings
with which to finance investment in Zimbabwe.
