More on Friedman as a useful crook
Robert Leeson's article on Johnson will appear in the Winter 2000 issue
of History of Political Economy
Johnson wrote to Patinkin (29 September 1969): ?I?ve just read your JMC
hatchet job on Milton. I recall our talk about it in ?63 on the plane
from Pittsburgh ... You have shown him to be a crook, and I accept that,
but I can?t help thinking he has not only been clever but also useful?
