I don't know ehnough about China to say. I was a sort of Sovietologist, but
modern China is something of which my knowledge is superficial. It does seem,
from that limired perspective, that the Chinese are being slow and careful in
replacing planning with (apparently full-fledged capitalist) markets. --jks
