[PEN-L:9673] Re: Limitations
Jim Craven writes: >This may seem to be a cop-out for some, but I tell you
honestly, on the question of ... the question alluded to by Jim Devine (the
supposed elitist nature and machinations of the government of China) I do
not have enough information and I for sure do not trust the accounts of the
bourgeois press--for almost anything.<
Like Jim C., I lack enough info, but I wasn't worrying about the "elitism"
of China's government, which makes it sound like Harvard or something.
Rather, my concern was with its authoritarianism, the unaccountability of
its "socialist" government, and its pro-capitalism.
Concerning these and other questions, I would like to hear from someone
who's studied China a lot (preferably someone who speaks and reads Chinese).
