Of course, a key criticism of fee-for-service medicine is that it gives
too
much power to MD's who fatten their earnings by prescriping "medically
unnecessary and inappropriate care." HMO's are excoriated for
promoting drive-through deliveries, but back in the bad-old days of
fee-for-service medicine, forcep deliveries followed by
two weeks of confinement to a hospital
bed was the norm. MD's, in my opinion, get off way to lightly in
health care debates.
