[PEN-L:9436] Re: China debate
>>> Louis Proyect <lnp3@xxxxxxxxx> 07/21/99 02:43PM >>>
All of these societies are based on a contradiction. They are trying to
co-exist economically with a hostile capitalist world, while building a
just system. Not only do you have contradictions externally, there are
internal contradictions beween the urban and agrarian sectors. The peasants
are under duress to sell foodstuffs at low prices, so that the workers can
enjoy subsidized meals. But meanwhile manufactured goods are sold back to
them at an inflated price. The idea is to close this gap by increasing
labor productivity, but imperialism refuses to sell tools and high
technology to the revolutionary society.

Charles: This seems a succinct and cogent generalization.
Charles Brown
Without revolutionary theory, there can be no revolutionary movement.
