[PEN-L:8345] Re: racism
----Original Message Follows----
From: "Henry C.K. Liu" <hliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
-----------------
This is garbage, Henry, no one on this list denied that these are examples
of racism.
-----------------
I posted information, as other also did, about two Napalese Gurkhas blown to
pieces in Kosovo under British command and about Chinese laborers being used
as
human detonators in the construction of American railroads in the 19th
century.
I suggested that the events are examples of racism.
--------------------
What the hell is "reverse racism"?
-------------------------
Some on the list denied
that conclusion and accused me of being a reverse racist for viewing whites
as a
cohesive group.
---------------
I said nothing about friends chinese or otherwise. I quoted colleques that
from China who think that Maoism is not socialism. You typically twist it
all around to suit your purposes, which I can't understand
--------------------------------------------
You said you have some Chinese friends who thinks socialism is irrational.
-------------------------
Who ridiculed the Chinese language as brainless?
-----------------------------
And I am sure they do not take kindly to
anyone ridiculing the Chinese language as brainless.
----------------------
It not racist to attack the cult of the personality
-------------------------
But when DeLong ridiculed Lin Biao's preface to the Quotations of Mao, I
accused that act to be a racist act
because he concluded from a translation of Chinese linguistics as evidence
of
lack of clear thinking in socialist writing.
--------------------------------
This I appologize for. You have posted interesting posts on transit and
international finance. But when ever any mentions Mao you bring out the
racist argument. You have no evidence that Brad DeLong or anyone else is a
racist (at least now you are providing a name, before it was a general
accusation againtst everyone who was "white".)
---------------------------------
Many, I am sure, disagree with me. But you draw the conclusion that I use
racism to win all intellectual arguments. That is simply insupportable, as
I have posted on many subjects on
which racism has not been the issue.
----------------
No one has earned the right to be a racist. You will have to explain to me
how a former chair of a department at UCLA is more of a victim than a poor
white from Louisana or Newfoundland. I think that any claim that you can
smell racism from the posts on this list is a serious delusion on your part.
--------------------------------
As I have admitted in writing, I am guilty of being a reactive
racist, but I have earned the right. I am such an expert on racial
oppression from the victim side that I can smell it a mile away.
