[PEN-L:7589] What I would love to see...
I would love it if, on his next visit to the U.S., the Premier of the
People's Republic of China would bypass "Billary" and demand to see one of
America's foremost political prisoners Leonard Peltier and demand his
immediate freedom as a condition ot further engagement.
I would love to see the Premier bypass Congress and all the usual stuff and
ask to go directly on a tour of Indian Reservations, African-American
ghettos, poor Whites in Appalachea and shanty towns of migrant Hispanic
workers. I would love to see the Premier demand the immediate and
unconditional full freedom and sovereignty of all Indian Nations (according
to the US Supreme Court [Marshall] Decisions in the 1820s and 1830s, Indian
Nations are "Captive/Dependent" Nations within a Nation which is the alleged
formal status of Tibet) and as along the lines the US is proposing in
Kosovo.
I would like to see the Premier demand reparations from the US for the
freeing of and utilizing the work of the Japanese War Criminals who used
Chinese, Americans and others as "experimental subjects" for biological and
gas warfare research; the same was done with respect to Nazi War Criminals
and their work.
I would like the Premier to visit among the homeless, battered women,
disposessed children, at AIDS clinics and at Veteran's hospitals where
disabled veterans are thrown away like garbage. I would like the Premier to
open up all inteligence and other files to show campaign contributions to
show how easily the liberals and conservatives can be bought and how cheap
they go.
I would like the Premier to give an account of how many War Criminals of
various nations were given aid and comfort, aid in escape and actually
placed in high levels of government and other spheres of various societies
by the U.S. Government. I would like to see the Premier call for full and
immediate application of the Nuremberg and other War Crimes Trials
precedents to the U.S., Canada and other "democratic" and "freedom-loving"
nations vis-a-vis genocide against Indigenous Peoples in the Americas and
elsewhere. I would like to see an accounting of the numbers of victims and
types of atrocities committed by "Authoritarians" (meaning
pro-capitalist/anti-communist despots to be preferred even supported over
"Totalitarian" despots who are nominally pro-socialist/anti-capitalist) with
US training and weapons. [By the way, if as Prof. Delong suggests, dead is
dead, no matter by whom against whom and for what cause, then why the
disingenuous Kirkpatrickian distinction between Totalitarian versus
Authoritarian?]
I would like to see the Premier open the files on the whole history of
espionage, penetration, destabilization, threats of use of nuclear weapons,
biological/gas warfare, invasion through proxies etc by the US and its
allies against China. I would like to see an accounting of the losses of
lives attributable to support of the Kuomintang who refused to seriously
fight against the Japanese invaders and refusal to support the Chinese
Communist who very seriously fought the Japanese invaders. I would love to
see the Premier do a photo-op "conference" with students of Harvard on what
America must do to reverse the deleterious and strategically threatening
social, economic, political and cultural trends of decay in America and
become an international law abiding citizen of the world community.
I would love to see the Premier visit TWA, ATT, Eddie Bauer, Microsoft and
others all of whom use prison labor--prison labor (non-unionized, captive,
"disciplined" and unable to strike) is the fastest growing source of labor
in America. I would like the Premier to call for a boycott of all US
companies using prison labor.
I wouold love to see the Premier give a lecture on the parallels between
missionaries in China--their intentions, hubris and their effects--and
missionaries in the Americas and elsewhere among Indigenous Peoples. Maybe
he could interview some Indian children who had been sterilized through
coercion or deception. Maybe he could interview some children sexually and
physically abused by Clergy. Maybe he could demand that the Churches pay
just compensation and apologize to the victims (the Catholic Church paid out
over $600 million in three years in sealed settlements dealing with
sexual/physical abuse of children by priests).
America, along with her pampered, insulated, CV-building and market niching
academics (conservative, liberal or nominally otherwise) have no authority
to point fingers anywhere when they opportunistically fail to point them
here.
Just a little fantasy to get by.
