[PEN-L:6090] Oil Embargo and Agriculture.

One effect of the oil embargo will be to ensure that Albanians
and Serbs alike in the FRY will
be short of food later in the year. Fuel for tractors will come
second to fuel for the military. In many cases there will be no
spring planting. In Kosovo the situation will be worse since
livestock have been abandoned and cattle wander the countryside.
They are apparently often shot by the Serb military for food or
"sport",
Any stocks of fuel left in Kosovo farms will be appropriated by
the military. It is interesting to note that at least some ethnic
Albanians must be staying on their farms as is shown by the fact
that several children of an Albanian farm family near Pristina
were blown up by an unexploded NATO bomb in a field where they
were watching over the family cows. How many more are there?
   Cheers, Ken Hanly
