Why the assumption that U.S. crimes come from opportunism or
bad strategy or stupidity? I know you don't buy that assumption,
Michael, but it seems to provide support for it to use terms such
as "opportunism" in this post.

For fifty years the record is unblemished: any, ANY, influence of
the U.S. in a third world country (whether aid or bombing) leaves
that nation worse off, and usually with its social structure, the web
of social relations, traditions, etc. which allow political activity,
destroyed.

Can this be a mere by-product of opportunism or whatever? If any
other nation were involved, we would say the results reflect the
intention.
