It certainly represents a sharp disagreement on a specific issue -- but
I think it is worthwhile to reserve the label, "split in the ruling class,"
for the kind of division which makes possible an actual alliance between
the working class and some sector of the ruling class. That sort of split
does not occur except under conditions of great working class strength
and consequent division *not* just of opinion but of objective interests
within the ruling class. Nothing like that occurred even during the
Vietnam War.
