Hmmm, a few more thoughts:
Read some of the old Zap Comics, then see the film "Crumb". (This may
be depressing.)
Many of the old situationist pamphlets have been collected in readers
(sign of the times there). One that isn't available but which really
conveys a sense of the period is the one lampooning the Harvard strike.
(In which a fictional Mike Ansara, in the most preturnaturally prescient
line of the 60s, says "If you make a revolution, do it for funds."
Thirty years later his fundraising machinations helped bring down
Carey.)
