that's exactly right. which is why the flame up at those who think of
"race as a construct", without specifying at the same time that there
is a debate to be had over what is or is not pertinent to this
process, can only be replied with the question: if it is not a
construct, what is it, natural? that lapses such as this occur can
only mean that there is an inclination to want to think of race as
natural, naturally non-assimilable. and, that the general response is
not to point to this as a form of racism itself, becuase it is peddled
within the terms of a virtuous attack on 'pomos' - something that we
are all supposed to agree with intuitively without ever needing to
read anything - is sad.
