I appreciate the brainstorming this list has done on my behalf, but I'd
like to call attention to the original request. I'm not looking for an
analysis or critique (primarily), but simply a description of what the
global economic system consists of and the recent history of how it
evolved. Most of our students know at most what they read in the
newspapers, and many don't read the newspapers. So the book could be
right-wing, left-wing, or no-wing; there is plenty of opportunity to
develop a critique in the remainder of the course.
