RE: the workers will eat this up!
friends,
One can argue about the agitational effectiveness
of using Chris D's analogy concerning the war crimes
of the Clinton-- (or/Bush) Demopublican regimes war crimes
and those of Hitler /Stalin , etc but the facts are that
Chiris D is correct that mass bombings that obliterate
civilians are war crimes--even if not seen anymore , by
bourgeois standards or bourgeois morality--and its
lying media monopoly..
Worker champions have to uphold civilized standards and
civilized morality based on the interests of workers against
capitalists --in this case Oil profiteering capitalists , US
and British imperialist states.. And this is in no way to apologize
for the nature of the reactionary Hussein regime at all.
This period shows clearly that the nature of a states superstructure,
be it 'democratic' or 'fascist' is still impelled to commit barbarous
crimes
to protect the capitalist social basis /relations , the profits and
markets.
The work of 'democracy' can be nearly as terroristic as the
track record of 'fascism'. This is the nature of our epoch
of capitals domination.
The US record in this was demonstrated , alluded to by others on
this thread.
But in the end this should be sobering for those who still peddle
the myths of 'democractic progressive' capitalism . But to the dead
and maimed mounds of civilians , victims of imperiaist rivalry that
is mounting again today , eg. in the area over which corporations will
the lions share of Caspain Sea Oil bonanza revenue, markets, etc.
it makes little difference to those hundreds murdered by militarist/state
terror whether the planes and missiles and bombs were 'democratic'
or fascist , whether those who gave the orders to murder greet their
friends
by saying 'seig heil' or even 'merry christmas' , they were still the work
of a
most barbaric class , the owners of wealth produced by workers, the
ruling capitalist class.
This should be the ABC lesson in all this , lessons that the working class
must understand clearly if its own interests are are not to continue to be
trampled underfoot, lessons that succces for workers in struggle against
the capitalist job-cutting, speed ups and austerity , etc, lessons that
swallowing media propaganda for war crimes will in the end , come back
in the face of the exploited and oppressed as has happened too often
already.
