"We are in a Pre-Fascist Situation=94
This assessment comes from the prominent Washington journalist and =
writer
William Greider. =93Fascism is rooted in certain economic and
financial-political tendencies. Any authoritarian American politician =
who=92s
able to appear somewhat trustworthy and who=92ll promise the people to =
get
them bread on the table and who=92ll furthermore mix this with racist
undertones will triumph=94 Greider predicts (The Global Trap, p. 191).
The increasingly unequal distribution of resources will not only hurt =
the
weakest in society but also the less strong. Not only the less =
competitive
countries, but also the less competitive people in the more competitive
countries. And those who have refuse to share. It=92s true among =
countries as
well as among fellow citizens.
The increasing entrenchment of Fort Europe has been going on at full =
speed
for a long time. The outer borders has to be ensured against endless =
hordes
of impoverished people who, desperate from hunger and impoverishment, =
will
do anything to get part in the abundance promised by the Western-land.
So far we, the rich Western Europeans, can get away with sending help =
and
enforcement to the guards in Lithuania just so that people who have =
risked
everything, can languish in KZ-like camps
Everybody regrets it but it can=92t be afforded=85 There is no doubt =
that the
official reasons will not vary when an explosive number of distressed =
people
on the run necessitates more direct counter-measures. Whereto the =
poorest
people of the richest countries will emigrate when the 20:80 society =
becomes
too unbearable will be a different and exiting question.
