Max's note on the political implication of relative incomes are important.
Missing from our chat, though, are the kinds of real vulnerabilites (and on
the upside, potentials) that accompany (or not!) various levels of income.
This is the innovation of the UNDP whe they came out with their Human
Development Report, though I wold suggest their massaged indicators are
still too reductionist. I tried to suggest a bit ago this also ought to be
on the table -- not just the numbers, is mine bigger than yours, by how
much, etc.
