[follows an excellent piece by Gregory Schwartz,
with which I have some agreements and some disagreements; I
will try to answer him soon -those who know me know I
always want to write more than time allows me to, but be
sure I _will_ write on this sometime... and I am three
(3) postings in debt now wih the Marxism list!]

I will just and only comment a final line.

I understand that. In fact, this is absolutely coherent
with Greg's position, and I am afraid that this is the
wrong way to see it. Unless one can accept, with the
Laclau of the late Seventies / early Eighties, that
socialism may well be the developed form of populism.

In Anglo Saxon (and Anglo American) political usage, the
word "populism" bears a huge load of contempt, or so it
seems to me. It seems to convey the idea of "masses being
duped", and so on. I try to have a more Gramscian vision of
the thing. BTW, I don't even accord great heuristic /
hermeneutic value to the word.

But of course, this would
ignite a new thread (a necessary one, of course!), and I am
so deeply indebted now that I HEREBY DECLARE I WILL NOT
JOIN A SINGLE NEW THREAD UNTIL I HAVE SENT MY THREE
PROMISED MAILS, THE ONE ON POZZI ET AL., THE ONE ON THE
MILITARY IN ARGENTINA, AND THE ONE ON MY VISION OF RUSSIAN
EVENTS (by the way, when I declare myself ignorant of
current events in Russia I am not asking for tenderness,
just putting my opinions in adequate perspective...)

Regards to all,

Nestor.

PS: I will be offline for a couple of days, I am
leaving Buenos Aires again.
