[PEN-L:488] Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Communications for a Sustainable Future

I, too wish the same. But as one of Don Roper's "cohorts", I feel that I should answer some of the allegations about censorship, and the questioning of CSF's bonafides.
As a student here at the University of Colorado, I really appreciate CSF's precense here as one of the few places I have seen that serves as an umbrella for a plethora of causes/issues. I stumbled onto CSF because of my interest in Permaculture (csf.colorado.edu/perma), and as I got interested in issues of Economics, I started going through the PEN-L archives, which I have found to be very valuable.
A few months ago, after reading Henwood's book, I was mulling over a seminar idea, which Don readily agreed to. My experience with CSF has been that one of openness, and a firm committment to the cause of sustainability and social justice.
I have seen no evidence of any kind of wilful censorship at CSF. Most discussions have multiple moderators, and any one of them has the authority to approve a message.
I think it is sad that such aspersions are being cast on CSF, when CSF itself is so delicately poised because of its politics. I am reminded of Zinn's line in his play where one of the characters asks ' Why is it that every revolutionary organization with six memebers is trying to expel five of them' (or something to that effect).
I wont address the issue of copyright here, but on the issue of profanity, I don't really see what role profanity plays in a civilized debate, progressive or otherwise. As one of the moderators for the Wall_Street seminar, I support Don's message to Louis, which basically was a message asking him to avoid expletives since the discussion under question was being archived.
