I am a big Pat Barker fan. She includes Sassoon as a major figure in the
first part of the Trilogy called "Regeneration." This is the story of a
psychiatrist (based on a real figure) whose job it was to restore
shell-shocked soldiers to "mental health" so they could return to the
trenches. One of the men he treats is Sassoon. It is sort of a Huckleberry
Finn take on how society treats certain insane instutions like slavery or
war as sane. Very highly recommended.
