[PEN-L:209] Blair's Ideology?

A long acquaintance of mine, Greg Palast, has created a sensation in
England with articles on "Cash for Access." Posing as a representative of
US businessmen interested in "access" to Blair's Labor Government, he
auditioned lobbying firms seeking clients.

The lobbyists were remarkably unguarded, naming high officials to
whom they could provide entry, and talking about weak and irrelevant
Ministers to avoid. They also seemed to be purveying government policy
documents before they were public.

One phrase in the first story in the Observer really appealed to me. Neal
Lawson, who advised Tony Blair on campaign strategy before the election,
called the Labor Party's politics "Non-ideologically-poisoned
decision-making."

Yes, don't let any ideology creep into things.

I can forward the first story, and I think they are all available
at WWW.OBSERVER.CO.UK PAGES 1-8

        Ideologically driven, but not poisoned,

                         Gene Coyle
