Good points ricardo.
As to the point about the Soviet Union and the war, I think it is easy
to forget that the Soviets could have lost very easily. What I remember from
my military history is that even after the tide had turned, the Nazis
were able to inflict tremendous casualties on the Red Army (a 10 to 1 casualty
ratio
was pretty routine). The Wehrmacht might have long delayed the
Russian advance and perhaps ground it to a halt except for the fact that
Hilter made it a point of involving
himself with tactial and operational doctrine to the point it
tremendously weakened the Germans defensive capabilities. So given the
above and given disorganization that Stalin unleashed on various sectors
of Soviet society before the war, perhaps as much credit should be
given to Hilter for the Allied victory.
