Nah, I'm just cynical enough to see method even in this apparent madness:
18 months hence a SoCal-Detroit consortium will market a space coupe for
the better-heeled geriatric crowd. "The Millennium: a Jupiter of value
at an asteroid price. An out-of-this-world investment for sensible folks
who barf at the very mention of the stock market!"
