AMSTERDAM -- European transport unions will meet in Brussels Thursday
to discuss ways to support the employees of United Parcel Service of
America Inc. (X.UPS), the FNV, the largest Dutch union said Friday.

'We are going to look at the possibilities. Look at the wishes of our members,'
spokesman Roelie Hidding of the transport unit of the FNV told Dow Jones,
adding it was yet unclear if the transport unions would go on a solidarity
strike.

Hidding said he had heard the German public sector workers union, OeTV is
considering calling a solidarity strike with the Teamsters later Friday.

The employees of the UPS unit in Amsterdam declared themselves
sympathetic with their U.S. colleagues earlier Friday.

The 40 UPS workers in Amsterdam met with UPS pilot Dan Overgaauw from
Kentucky and Andy Banks from the Teamsters union.

The two Americans are touring the European UPS units to win support for the
 strike in the U.S..

About 185,000 Teamsters members called a strike about the terms of a new
pension plan. The strike entered its eleventh day Friday.
