[PEN-L:9467] Suggestion for a pen-l usenet facility

I have been thinking about the enormous quantity of information that
goes over pen-l. I have a suggestion for a new project.

I think that we would do a great service if we could set up a usenet
facility with some of the long postings that appear on pen-l. To work,
it would have to be moderated -- I am not volunteering as the moderator,
although I would consider being part of a committee of moderators.

The facility would serve several functions. It would be a useful
educational devise -- more focussed that misc.activism.progressive. It
would allow pen-l to be more tidy since the long reprints of articles
from elsewhere would be available for all to read -- in fact, they would
probably get a larger circulation than they do on pen-l.

We would have to keep reference to pen-l off this facility, otherwise we
would attract too many people who just want to debate us or harass us.

The facility might help us be more effective.

If this idea has merit, then we would need some volunteers to shepard
the project through the usenet requirements and then to moderate it.

Yes? No? Volunteers?
