Michael: I think this was a nice idea (and indeed the posts written
yesterday by those from outside of the US were highly interesting), but:

(a) if you do it again, I suggest that you make the announcement in
advance by at least a _week_ (rather than a day). I make this suggestion
since I believe that many of those who are outside of the US check their
e-mail far less frequently than the average US user. I think this is
particularly the case for subscribers in continental Europe, LA, and Asia.

(b) what will we do with those from the US who were so insensitive so as
to post yesterday? Should they be boiled in cyber-oil? Should they be
shunned? Should they be denounced as nationalistic? Or, should you simply
ask that they be more considerate next time? (I guess the last possibility
is the most reasonable one under the circumstances).
