What about spending per household on yachts?
Yeah, that's a serious question. NZ has, by far, the highest per capita
rate of recreational boat ownership. Boat ownership in NZ is certainly not
limited to the wealthy, moreover, and extends to a large percentage of
working class families. Yet, the cost of yachting (all expenses) has
skyrocketed during this same period. If families then keep their boats,
they will discover that a larger percentage of their income is spent on
purchasing and maintaining boats and less income will be available for all
other purposes. ... Just a thought.
