[PEN-L:6769] Reject Pre-Set Agendas Of The Rich

A key question in political life is the setting of the agenda. What are
the problems facing society? What are their solutions? What are the best
ways to involve the polity in this debate and discussion?
The existing political process is designed to prevent the people from
setting the agenda. It is the rich, through their parties and candidates,
who set the agenda. The debates and campaigns help impose this agenda on
the political life of the country. The monopoly-controlled media promotes
the "issues" decided, coupled with numerous diversions on scandals and
corruption.
The result is that the people are prevented from setting the agenda,
while becoming increasingly fed-up with politics, as the political system
offers no answers to burning social problems. This reality reflects the
objective nature of the existing political process, which favors those who
represent the economically most powerful and serves to strengthen the
status quo.
