[PEN-L:4745] The wave of the future?
- Subject: [PEN-L:4745] The wave of the future?

There's lots of talk today about how the corporate
application of high tech and telecommunications will
bring all sorts of good things in its wake. For
those who would like a concrete example of what this
high tech future is likely to look like in the
absence of strong social intervention, I recommend
tuning in to the Province of New Brunswick's
Department of Economic Development Web site, which
is designed to sell companies on locating their
operations there.
This site explains how New Brunswick's high rate of
unemployment and low rate of unionization make the
workforce flexible, that wage costs are low, that
government assistance to business is extensive, etc.
