The Legacy of the New Deal and the Crisis of Our Times
a discussion and dinner with David Montgomery
Friday, April 19 at 6 pm
This talk will look at the kinds of popular mobilizations
that pushed the New Deal forward, as well as the
limitations of what was accomplished. Which circumstances
today could allow us to draw on that experience, and
which are fundamentally different?
David Montgomery teaches labor history at Yale
University. He was an activist in the 1950s in New York
and the midwest. His most recent book is _Citizen Worker:
The Experience of Workers in the U.S. with Democracy and
the Free Market during the Nineteenth Century_.
This event is part of The Brecht Forum/New York Marxist
School's series "U.S. History for Today's World."
Vegetarian and non-vegetarian food will be served.
Admission is $15.
