[PEN-L:2416] Re: women & technology
- Subject: [PEN-L:2416] Re: women & technology

Peter Burns raises an essential question on the relationship of
ecology to democracy. I'm not against democracy (it is one essential
component of socialist and advanced communist society). I guess I
wanted to say that the position which says We're not opposed to
technology we just think it should be democratically controlled, is a
bit facile. It doesn't recognize the responsibility of the
democratic polity involved to place limits on its freedom of decision
and action consistent with the prevention of further ecological
degradation. Nor do I think that what is consistent with a
democratic decision is necessarily consistent with human well being
which like class interest can be said to exist apart from subjective
group judgment.
