[PEN-L:1973] The continuing disc

Although I was a somewhat active participant in the earlier incarnation of
this debate, I've lurked since then, mainly because I find the entire
discussion too general. To me the question is not local versus national
versus international action but the best mix of each of these. Decentralized
action is necessary because without out it there is no democracy; action at
the national and international levels are necessary to provide a supportive
environment for more localized struggles.
OK, I'm being vague here too, but I think that, once you move to the level of
concrete initiatives, the levels are tightly interlocked. For those
interested, I will present an analysis along these lines at an URPE panel on
labor standards and globalization in SF.
Bottom line: I refuse to choose between progressive internationalism and the
struggle for local autonomy.
