By the way, I agree with the other Doug that we, whoever we are, should
demand the impossible because 1) it stretches the limits of the possible;
and 2) illuminates those limits very nicely. My point in showing the
impossibility of a near-doubling of the average wage and the
more-than-doubling of the minimum was to make it clear that those are
profoundly radical demands, a real effort to seize the returns to capital,
and not something that productivity could easily absorb.
