[PEN-L:5263] Re: "welfare reform" and Fed reform

Bob Naiman writes:
"Have there been any efforts to tie "welfare reform" to reform of
the Fed?"

the issue of how the Fed's efforts to keep U > NAIRU undermines
job creation for the poor showed up on the PKT list a month or
two ago in a letter that Paul Davidson posted, which I think
he got into the NY TIMES. It's in the PKT archive. If anyone
has a search function on their gopher program, they can find it.

"The human being is in the most literal sense a _zoon politikon_
[political and social animal], not merely a gregarious animal, but
an animal which an individuate itself only in the midst of society.
Production by an isolated individual outside society -- a rare
exception which may well occur when a civilized person in whom
social forces are already dynamically present is cast by accident
into the wilderness -- is as much an absurdity as is the development
of language without individuals living together and talking to each
other" -- K.Marx.
