[PEN-L:5257] Re: Data on Inequality by State?

Art MacEwan asked about state income distribution data.

The best stats I know of were done by Citizens for Tax Justice a few years
ago, in their study of state tax systems called, unfortunately, A Far Cry
from Fair. I think their figs covered 1991. They were supposedly updating
them, but I haven't heard anything lately. Call Mike Ettlinger of CTJ,
202-626-3780.

You might also try Andrew Beveridge of Queens College
(andy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx), whose done a lot of Census analysis for the New
York Times. He's the one responsible for the amazing factoid that Manhattan
has the most unequal distribution of income of any county in the US except
for one tiny one in Hawaii that is the former site of a leper colony.
