How about the high price-cost ratio, hence higher profit/per unit of
luxury cars? This is indeed a bargaining chip. Small cars are generally
not as profitable, and a few
years ago a Nissan employee confided, it was mainly for market presence
for the Japanese and his suggestion was to get out of this segment. That
would still leave good profits and perhaps reduced work hours.
