[PEN-L:4973] Integrated Conservation-Development Projects

Dear Colleagues:

My apologies to those incovenienced by this cross-posted
announcement.

I am interested in putting together an invited paper session on the
topic of integrated conservation-development projects (ICDPs) for the Southern
Agricultural Economics Association (SAEA) meetings February 3-7, 1996,
in Greensboro, North Carolina. The working title for the session is "Economic
Analysis and the Design and Evaluation of ICDPs". ICDPs are currently the
fashion in international conservation efforts in low- and middle-income countries,
but IMHO their design and evaluation proceeds with relatively little
structured input from economists to this point. The objective of the
session would be to demonstrate how tools from economics can be
employed practically and usefully in the design and evaluation of
ICDPs.

If anyone is working in this area and would be interested in contributing
a paper or serving as a discussant, please contact me DIRECTLY. I
do not actively monitor all the lists to which I am sending this
announcement. Deadline for proposals is June 6, so we need to move
reasonably quickly on this.

For those who need a bit extra inducement, invited papers selected
for presentation are subsequently published in the Journal of
Agricultural and Applied Economics.

Thank you.

Chris Barrett
