ÂThe Collectivist State, better than free market, seems to be able to carry on the equilibrium point over the complete lines of transformation. Indeed, it is difficult that a private society follows in its sales exactly the lines of complete transformation. Must therefore make its clients pay general expenditures in principle, and next to sell commodities at cost prices deducing general expenditures. Except for particular cases, I can not see how it can happen. On the contrary, the Socialist State can levy on the consumers of its commodities, general production expenditures of this merchandise and next make the transfer at cost price; therefore, it can follow the complete lines of transformation. (Pareto, [1909] 1945: 274-275)

ÂEl Estado colectivista, mejor que la libre competencia, parece poder llevar el punto de equilibrio sobre la lÃnea de las transformaciones completas. En efecto, es difÃcil que una sociedad privada siga exactamente en sus ventas la lÃnea de las transformaciones completas. Deberà por esto hacerse pagar por sus clientes, en principio los gastos generales, y seguidamente venderles las mercaderÃas a precio de coste, deduciendo los gastos generales. Salvo en casos particulares no se ve cÃmo podrÃa ocurrir esto. El Estado socialista, al contrario, puede poner como impuesto, sobre los consumidores de sus mercaderÃas, los gastos generales de la producciÃn de esta mercaderÃa, y despuÃs seguidamente cederlos al precio de coste; puede, en consecuencia, seguir la lÃnea de las transformaciones completas. (Pareto, [1909] 1945: 274-275)
