I have just had to conduct an exam at Glasgow University. It
was held in a new hall I had never been in before, normally used used for
military training. It had, besides a large picture of the Queen on the wall (
circa 1958 by her apparent age ) , a huge, freshly painted motto on the wall
facing the candidates reading: ‘The British Empire expects service from all her sons, It
expects the most service from those to whom the most has been given.’ Except of course from royal
princes, who are now excused from service in Iraq! |
