PS. "My us granny" was a mistype -- it should have been
simply "My granny".
The reason for quoting her was that Marx's point in using the now
obsolete
_expression_ "cookshop" (my granny was born in 1890) seems to
have been that
it was the original fast-food service, unlike restaurants where food was
cooked to order. I suppose Marx is saying you can't get communism
precooked -- to use another metaphor, ready to wear rather than
custom-made. -- James
