The site "Marx Myths and Legends", which I told you about on March 12,
has as of *today*  been officially launched.

Some new additions -- written expressly for this site -- include:

o   The Myth of Marx's Economic Determinism by Peter Stillman

o   Karl Marx and Religion by Cyril Smith

o   Reading the 'Unreadable' Marx by Humphrey McQueen

More articles and authors are planned, including additions by Marshall
Berman and (former OPE-L member) Paul Mattick, Jr.

 "Marx Myths & Legends" is now launched at http://marxmyths.org/

 The site currently includes 17 articles by 15 authors:

 Christopher J. Arthur, Terrell Carver, Paresh Chattopadhyay, Harry Cleaver,
 John Holloway, Joseph McCarney, Humphrey McQueen, Cyril Smith, Peter
Stillman, Francis Wheen
 and Lawrence Wilde, have contributed articles, while works by Hal Draper,
 Zbigniew Jordan and Maximilien Rubel have been reproduced with permission.

 Marx Myths & Legends is a free access online project that attempts to
contribute to a reinvigoration of Marx scholarship by addressing the
multiple areas of distortion and misinterpretation that surround Karl Marx's
life and work on both academic and more general levels. Each author
addresses themselves to what they regard as one common misconception or myth
about Karl Marx and clarifies the issue with scholarly thoroughness. Rather
than attempting to present a singular vision of the "true Marx" the aims of
the project are primarily to call into question received understandings and
provide a space for discussion of interpretive issues. Visitors to the site
are invited to add rejoinders to any of the articles, or contribute more
informally to the blog. Marx Myths & Legends will be an ongoing project with
further texts added gradually to cover further areas of Marx "mythology" as
well as areas of debate.
