Yes, Andy. This is what I was getting at in my remarks about Luxemburg's *Introduction to Political Economy*.
Jerry, I agree with Andy that you seem to put too much weight on those two letters. If Marx were so driven by 'materialistic' interest for his own monetary income through publishing more of *Capital*, he had A LOT of additional material around to put out and what he had could have come out sooner. On the other hand, his son-in-law in his reflections on Marx stated how meticulous Marx's was about getting things 'right'. That's not consistent with a person driven to publish more for his own direct monetary interests. Yours is, frankly, a simplistic use of materialism, in my opinion.
