Since Steve Keen has managed to mention two of my extra-curricular hobby-horses -- the work of Ursula Le Guin, and motor cycles -- in a single post, I can't forgo replying. On Le Guin, note that she describes Anarres (the anarchist world) and Urras (the non-anarchist one) as "twin *planets*" orbiting each other (it is only the tabloid papers on Urras that describe Anarres as a moon) -- BUT the point is that economically Anarres IS a satellite of Urras: its economy is ultimately dependent on exchanging minerals for manufactured goods. And Urras is not strictly a capitalist world; one of its states is explicitly state socialist, and is clearly there to show that Anarres' different organisation ultimately depends on its being out of range of capitalist guns. On motor cycles, a separate post follows. Julian
