Re: [Marxism] Two important articles on Iran
Louis: "Well, at least you do not deny PSL's support for the wretched Mugabe."
You certainly have a curious way of conducting political discussion, Louis,
counting the "lack of denial" of something as support for something. Of course
I consider Iran the question du jour and aren't particularly interested in
discussing anything else at the moment.
You can read everything PSL has ever written about Zimbabwe here:
http://www.pslweb.org/site/PageServer?pagename=zimbabwe
Here, I guess, are examples of what you consider "support for the wretched
Mugabe":
"The people of Zimbabwe have the right to develop their own country free
of imperialist influence. U.S. and British hands off Zimbabwe!"
"ZANU-PF, a multi-class formation led by the bourgeois-nationalist
Mugabe, still enjoys mass and militant support, particularly among war
veterans. This organization led the liberation war that defeated the
white settler regime. The veterans want to deepen agricultural land
reform and are staunchly against neoliberal development schemes.
ZANU-PF, the ruling party since Zimbabwe’s independence in 1980, also
contains a significant number of government bureaucrats and crony
capitalists, who only wish to enrich themselves and hypocritically use
hollow rhetoric of revolution against the MDC."
As with Ahmadinejad, and Saddam Hussein, and other targets of world
imperialism, it appears that you consider it a sin if a leftist does not join
in the condemnation of such "wretched" targets with sufficient fervor. The PSL,
and I, consider it the primary task of Western revolutionaries to point out the
utter hypocrisy of all such criticism by Western "democracies," and that our
focus must be kept on that simple but essential slogan - "U.S. (& other
imperialist government) Hands Off!". And "Hands Off" includes demanding an end
to crushing blockades which have played such an important role in weakening the
economies of Zimbabwe, Iraq, Cuba, and Iran, all in the service of attempting
to otherthrow (or overthrowing, in the case of Iraq) governments resistant to
imperialism and installing more pliable regimes.
