Re: [Marxism] A Brief and Tentative Note on Maoist Violence in the Context of Lalgarh (West Bengal, India)

In view of the apparent similarity in the modus operandi of the so-called
"popular movements" in Nandigram and Lalgarh, it now becomes starkly apparent
that both operations were a combined project of the right-wing Trinamul and the
extreme-left Maoists to instigate police firing on human shields and make
electoral and political gains against the CPI(M).

While it'd be quite foolhardy to condemn "violence" under every and all
circumstances, "violence" has its own inherent pernicious dynamic - it almost
inevitably brutalises and undermines democratic principles.
It is at best a necessary evil, under certain, not all, circumstances.
