I'm not certain that I follow your argument about the relationship
between the ending of conscription and NATO compatibility. When NATO was
set up all the countries in it had conscript armies. Germany today still
has a conscript army and it is quite compatible with participating in
NATO's imperialist adventures abroad - Afghanistan and the "anti-piracy"
flotilla off the coast of Somalia being cases in point.
