Re: [Marxism] Ahmadinejad won. Get over it

I'm not going to summarize Juan Cole's and others arguments that I
personally found convincing. I don't know what the 2000 and 2004 elections
have to do with anything, your throwing out a red herrings, I would be for
mass demonstrations in the wake of any capitalist election. Secondly, did
you notice that I said that *I didn't care *if there was fraud or not, and
that it was irrelevant whether or not there was fraud or not?

" [the US] will inevitably [an attack] launch against Iran. "

This is absolute rubbish. The United States does not want a popular movement
in Iran, they want someone with legitimacy that they can deal with and coax
into accepting the Obama-brand of hegemony, which will probably consent to
Iran having "regional power" status. Ideally they want Iran to be stable
and fairly complicit with US foreign policy. (Israel on the other hand
delighted that the reformers lost the election.) A democratic revolution in
Iran will change the shape of the Middle-East and hopefully start
destabilize Egypt and Jordan. The liberals within Iran and outside Iran are
calling for peace, calm and the cessation of violence "by both sides".
Marxists should be calling for the death of the Islamic republic not
lending crude apologias for reactionary regime ruling a capitalist
government (an oppressive one at that).
