quoting Juan Cole:

Juan Cole is missing or hiding some important issues in this respect. I know
two:
1) Ahmadinedjad made it possible for women to attend football matches
(football, not the US version of Rugby), but the supreme clerics forced him to
overturn the opening and to ban women again from football stadiums (BTW,
women's football is a popular sport in Iran)
> * Ahmadinejad implemented the Social Safety program, which monitors

> allowed to attend universities.'
2) the latter is a blatant lie if one does not mention that women represent
about two thirds of Iran's university students.
I don't know if the vote was correct or not.
Let us just remember the big difference in the reporting about the
presidential elections in Iran, the "axis of evil" for the imperialist bloc, on
the
one hand, and the reporting about the same protests against the latest
presidential elections in Mexico.
I see an imperial interest here in destroying Iran's independence, and I have
to oppose this attack on Iran, independently if the election had been rigged or
not.
That's why my first word is: Hands off Iran!
Comradely yours,
